Charles E. Metz, PhD; age 69, passed away July 4th, 2012. Loving father of Becky (Phil) Mavon and Molly Metz. Devoted grandfather of Charlie, Avery, and Oni. Former husband of Maryanne Metz. He is also survived by many dear friends, colleagues, and students. Dr. Metz was a Professor of Radiology and the Committee on Medical Physics and former Director of the Graduate Program in Medical Physics at the University of Chicago. Dr. Metz joined the faculty at the University of Chicago in 1969 and was an internationally renowned scientist and educator in radiological imaging science. Dr. Metz cherished his time with his family, enjoyed driving sport cars, and was a respected builder of WWII model airplanes. A memorial service at the University of Chicago is being planned for later this summer.
