Eric W. Fors

Eric Fors, born 4/22/1931 in Chicago passed away 5/29/21 at Hinsdale Hospital. Son of Henry
Werner Fors and Anna Orava, naturalized citizens from Finland. Husband of Marilyn and father
of Lance, Erica, Dirk and Steele. Grandfather of Steele and Ariel Fors-Klein, Tiffany and Tatiana
Fors and Zuri Fors.
Eric had a BS from Northwestern University, an MBA from Loyola University, and an MS from
University of Illinois in Speech Science. He attended Northwestern in the Audiology PhD
program. On June 4, 1955 he married Marilyn Lance, the love of his life, and was called to
military service in August 1955. He was attached to a military unit contracted to George
Washington University promoting a new program for teaching rifle marksmanship which is now
standard for the military and police.
Eric worked as an audiologist, hearing aid salesman, and a restaurant manager. However, Eric
found his career at United Airlines starting in Ramp Services on 12/15/1969 and retiring in
January 2001 with over 31 years of service.
Eric was an outgoing personality and conversationalist, making many friends and
acquaintances. He was a world traveler, taking his family on wonderful foreign vacations. He
loved to read and had an extensive library. He was a lover of the arts, enjoying museums,
orchestras, theater and dance performances with his lovely wife Marilyn. He enjoyed a
wonderful 90 year life and was greatly loved. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 12 from 3-7 pm at Adolf Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison
St., Willowbrook, IL. A Celebration of Eric’s life will follow on June 13 at 12:00 pm at Adolf
Funeral Home. We encourage everyone to share their stories and memories of Eric.
