Donna Marie Becht

On Sunday, November 7, 2021, Donna Marie Becht (Bednarek), loving wife and mother of three children, passed away peacefully next to her husband Edward Becht at age 80. Donna was born on July 5, 1941 in Chicago, IL  to Chester  and Gertrude Bednarek. She graduated from Madonna High School, where she was a member of the volley ball team, in 1959. From there she put herself through Nursing School at St Elizabeth Hospital, eventually earning a B.A. in Nursing.  She worked in the emergency room departments at many of the Chicagoland hospitals. In 1996, she earned her B.A. in Organizational Development from the University of De Paul. Two years later, she graduated with a Master’s Degree from Loyola University. She married Edward Becht in 1963. They raised one son and one daughter, Joseph Becht and  Jacqueline Clark (Becht). Their son Edward tragically passed away in 1965. Donna was known for her advocation of higher education but more importantly her unconditional love, kindness and empathy towards others.  Donna was always someone a person could turn to for care, help and advice. She was especially happy when with her grandchildren who affectionately called her Nana. She enjoyed gardening and had a passion for cooking, especially dishes from her Polish Heritage. She served on the boards of the Mayslake Village in Oak Brook, Il. The Chicago Architecture Foundation and Good City Chicago.

Donna is survived by her husband Edward, who she was married to for 58 years. She is also survived by her son Joseph and his wife Tracy (Wagner) and  grandsons Joseph, Peter and Anthony. She is also survived by her daughter Jacqueline and her husband Thomas Clark, her grandson Ryan and her grand-daughters Josephine and Jeanmarie. 

A visitation service will be held on Saturday November 13th at Our Lady’s Chapel at Mayslake Village 1801 35th St. Oak Brook, Il. 60523 from 10 am to 11 am followed by a Mass at the same location. Interment Bronswood Cemetery.  For funeral info or (630) 325-2300
