Roger Robert Paveza, 74, of Downers Grove, IL was surrounded by his family when he passed on November 16, 2021. Beloved and devoted husband of Kathy for 51 years, his love was everlasting since the time they met.  Roger did everything he could to show his love to Kathy including learning how to cook so he could make her dinner when she got home from work; secretly taking her car out for a carwash in the morning before she woke up; without hesitation making repairs and customizing their home; taking her out on dinner dates to try new restaurants; making sure she was celebrated and loved on every single occasion he could. His last wish was for his sons to make reservations at Wildfire in Oak Brook (a tradition) to celebrate Kathy’s birthday. For 51 years to the end his love for his wife was selfless and infinite and hers parallel.

Roger was a loving father to Roger M. (Elizabeth) Paveza and Ryan P. Paveza, who he boundlessly loved and supported throughout his life.  He worked tirelessly in the printing industry to provide for his family and not once did he ever miss a single soccer game, tennis match, baseball game, or event of any kind. He drove them to practices after he worked a long shift and coached and helped out just to be involved and spend time with his sons. He was the dad that went to his son’s rock band shows in the city no matter how loud or uncomfortable or tiring it was for him. It did not matter; he wanted to be there for his sons. Roger always let you know how proud he was of his sons even if it was insignificant or a life event, he lived for them and you knew it. Don’t think this didn’t get instilled in his sons. They remember those moments from when they were younger like they were yesterday, and they are great dads to their kids because of him.

He was so incredibly proud to be the grandfather of Annelise, Brennan and Gemma and absolutely cherished every single moment with them.  Grandpa was so blessed and lucky to have such wonderful grandchildren who loved him with every ounce of energy. He lit up every time he got to see and spend time with Annelise, Brennan and Gemma. Grandpa and Grandma went to every soccer game and every event of theirs celebrated them and made them feel loved beyond compare. And boy, they were always showered with gifts and love. Grandpa made them smile and they reciprocated.

Roger was a loyal and caring son to the late James E. and Eugenia Paveza and steadfast brother to Carol (Lauher) and the late James (Paveza).  He was privileged to have such great nephews including Mitch (Marie) Malecky, Robert (Linda) Malecky, William (Tara) Malecky, James (Michelle) Paveza and Scott Lauher and nieces Erika Schroeder and Katie Lauher.

He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army having served a tour in the Vietnam War. Roger loved golf and made so many dear friends at the Downers Grove Golf Club and spent many mornings getting coffee and breakfast with the guys.  It made him happy to develop those relationships and made golf secondary.

Visitation for friends and family on Sunday, November 21 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Adolf Funeral Home at 7000 South Madison Street in Willowbrook, Illinois 60527 (www.adolfservices.com) with a eulogy by Deacon Rich Voytas of St. John of the Cross Parish at 6:30pm and a bagpipe tribute to follow.
