Joan Frances McShane, nee Connors, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 surrounded by her five children. Joan was the treasured wife of the late James for nearly 63 years; loving mother of Marilyn (Evan) Williamson, James (Beth), Eileen (Rudy) Radasevich, Celeste (Daniel) Olp and Jeffrey (Barbara); cherished grandmother of Megan (Brian) Coady, Evan (Kristen) Williamson, Colleen, Chelsey (Ben) Smith, Katherine (Christopher) Farnsworth, Connor, Julia (Jack) Walsh, Matthew, Michael, Thomas, Abigail, Mitchell, Elizabeth and Caroline;  great grandmother of four; dear sister of the late Margaret (Fred) Reven and the late Marion; caring sister-in-law of Catherine (the late Gregory) Fichter; and daughter of the late John and Margaret (nee Burgin) Connors. A wonderful homemaker and gracious hostess, Joan loved her expansive circle of friends, and they loved her in return. Ever the dedicated and loving wife and mother, Joan was an avid bridge player and harbored a special gift as an artist that escaped detection by even her own children until well into their adulthood. Scores of her beautiful paintings adorn the walls of their homes as a tribute to the artist herself. Her husband Jim was truly the love of her life, and she missed him dearly after he passed. Their strong and loving marriage has been a model not only for her five children, but for her fourteen grandchildren. As for children and grandchildren, Joan loved hers unconditionally and relished spending time with them and hearing of their lives when circumstances kept them apart. Anyone who knew Joan knew that she had exquisite taste and was always impeccably dressed, always. Joan’s beautiful smile and warm, embracing spirit will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls at 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607 or online at donate.mercyhome.org or the Foundation for Hearing & Speech Resources at P.O. Box 180018, Chicago, IL 60618 or online at fhsr.org.
