Rheta Mae Bresnahan, (nee: Heebner) age 84, at rest January 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family when she passed from this world to the next. Beloved wife of Thomas F. Bresnahan, Jr. Loving mother of Patrick M. (Patricia L.) Bresnahan and Aileen B. (David) Kokaska. Cherished grandmother of Maggie Kokaska, Kevin Kokaska, Cara Bresnahan, Aidan Bresnahan and great-grandmother of Lane Darin. Rheta was preceded in death by her parents Catherine and Emanuel Heebner, her sisters Kathryn (Harold) Kueffer and Jean Marie (Dr. Grover) Sloan and her brothers Emanuel, Jack (Helen) and Bob (Geraldine) Heebner. Loving Aunt and Godmother to many nieces and nephews.
Rheta was born April 2, 1938 in Chicago, at St. Bernard’s Hospital. She married Thomas F. Bresnahan, Jr. in 1959 and they were together for 63, almost 64 years. Rheta was a graduate of Sacred Heart grade school and high school and continued her dedication to Sacred Heart Parish as Rectory Secretary and a 3rd grade teacher. After having 2 children, she returned to the workforce, as a part-time employee at Lavery Trucking Company for many years. Her working career continued as a bookkeeper assisting Corp Accountants, when she later retired to enjoy life. Rheta followed her strong Catholic faith as Eucharist minister at St. John of the Cross Parish. For more than 14 years, Rheta volunteered at St. Thomas Hospice providing loving, compassionate, care to her a diverse group of patients to include victims of the holocaust.
Visitation Tuesday January 17th, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Adolf Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ltd. 7000 S. Madison St; Willowbrook. Funeral service Wednesday January 18th, prayers 10:15 am at the funeral home proceeding to St. John of the Cross Church for Mass 11:00 am.
