Maribel Zepeda, 34, born on May 28, 1988 in Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango; passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 22, 2023 surrounded by loving family & friends. Devoted & beloved wife to Jorge A. Zepeda, daughter of Bertha Diaz (Rodriguez) & the late Jose Diaz, dear sister to Isa (Sergio) Delgado, Lidia (Angel) Garcia & Roseli (Jose) Larios. Cherished aunt of Janet, Sergio Jr., Jazmin, Angel Jr., Adrian, Anabelle, Adamari, Jose Jr. & Salvador. Adored Godmother of Arianna Rivera & loyal friend to so many.

Maribel’s beautiful smile & warm heart touched many lives, her kindness radiated to all those around her. Maribel was a graduate of UIC College of Nursing, she then went on to serve as a registered nurse at Rush University Medical Center. She loved her ‘14 West’ colleagues at Rush, where she formed life-lasting loyal friendships.

Maribel knew life & time on earth was precious. She was diagnosed with stage IV cancer three months after marrying the love of her life, Jorge. At the time, she was given a two year life expectancy but she was determined & fought relentlessly for seven years. Cancer changed her perspective on life, she knew how special the world was & she found the beauty in things many would not. She lived her life with purpose & appreciated being alive.

Maribel loved her family, cherished her nieces, nephews & godchildren. She loved to travel & see the world, loved to read & going on hikes to see the beauty around her. Maribel was surrounded by love in her life & will be missed extremely.
