It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Alphonse A. Alletto, on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the age of 96.  Alphonse (Al) will be lovingly remembered by his children Geralyn Duran (Ernie); Rosanne DeGregorio (John); Vincent Alletto (Marian) and four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Rosalie C.  Alletto, his parents, Vincent and Anne Alletto and his brother, William Alletto.

Al was a veteran of the US Navy where he served proudly as a medic during the Korean war. He retired from his lifelong career as a barber in the West Lawn community where he was beloved for his skills, his “gift of gab” and his patience with the youngest children receiving their first haircut.  

Dad was a devoted father and husband. He had a quick wit and many favorite stories that he loved to share with anyone who would listen.  He taught his children the importance of family, of having a strong work ethic and encouraged them to choose a career they would love so that it never felt like work. 

His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him much joy, and he was happiest surrounded by family.  Al’s stories, advice and cheerful personality will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 31st at St. Issac Jogues Catholic Church, 306 W. 4th St. Hinsdale, IL  60521. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30a.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider making a memorial donation in Alphonse’s name to St. Patrick’s Residence.
