Dancy, Andrew Joseph Jr., “Andy,” age 97 of Cicero, Illinois, passed away at home on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Andy was born on January 24, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Andrew and Frances Dancy. He is also preceded  in death by his sister, Violet.

On June 14, 1952, Andrew Dancy exchanged wedding vows with Julia Jawor, beginning a marriage of 52 years.  Julia went home the Lord in December of 2004.  Together, they are survived by 3 children, Dennis (Rosalind) Dancy, Darlene (Larry) Szerlag, and Debra, as well as grandchildren, Leslie (Jason), Jason, Jeremy, Lauren, Nicole (Josh), Eric, Wesley, Phillip, Melissa, Tracey, Erick and Nicholas.  He also had 8 great-grandchildren. 

Andy spent two years in the Army serving his country.  He supported his family by working at breweries and warehouses.

In his spare time, Andy enjoyed fishing, playing cards, attending events at the senior center.  At one of these events, Andy met Dorothy Trunda, with whom he spent the remainder of his life enjoying dances, trips, holidays, meals, etc.  Andy was a loving family man who will be missed by all who knew him.

A wake will be held at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 2921 Harlem Ave., Berwyn, IL  60402 on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  There will be a rifle salute at the burial service the following day, Wednesday, January 28th at 12 noon at:  Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421.

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, go directly to Abraham Lincoln Naltionl Cemetery.  There are no services in the funeral home on Wednesday.
