Diana Mae Thal Obituary
Diana Mae Thal, age 88, of Willowbrook, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025. Beloved wife of the late George M. Thal. Loving mother of Gayle K. Nicholas and dear grandmother of Andrew (Katie) Nicholas and Allyson (Dan) Fields. Adoring great grandmother to Owen, Grace, Isla, Rhys and Sophia.
Diana grew up in the Rogers Park area of Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from St. Scholastica High School and the Bryant and Stratton secretarial program. The consummate organizer, she spent many years as a secretary working at Niles Township, United Airlines and Marriott Hotels. It was at United Airlines where she met her husband, George. They spent many wonderful years together in South Bend, Indiana and eventually retired to Albuquerque, NM until George’s passing. She moved back to Willowbrook, IL to be with her family for these last 20 years of her life.
An only child growing up, Diana surrounded herself with so many friends. She was the life of every party and loved to entertain. She travelled extensively across the US and Europe by air, by bus and by cruise. Additionally, she derived great satisfaction volunteering with St. Thomas hospice.
Above all else, she was proud of her family. She inspired laughter and fun and memories that will always be cherished.
A private celebration of life will be held and interment will be in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In honor of Diana, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Research Institute online at www.cancerresearch.org
