Dolores V. Chipain, age 98, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 1, 1927, at Oak Park Hospital in Oak Park IL to Dorothy and Anthony Pirillo. A first generation American, Dolores was proudly born to a Greek mother and an Italian father-a heritage that shaped her deep appreciation for family, faith, culture, and tradition.
She was the beloved sister of her older brother, Frederick (Freddy), and her younger brother Anthony (Tony).
Dolores married Spyros Chipain in June of 1949 beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in devotion and family. Together they were blessed with two children: Aea (William)Cernok and Thomas (Billie) Chipain.
She was a loving and devoted grandmother-“Yiayia”- to Christina Vento, Spyro Chipain, and William Chipain. Proud great-grandmother- “Big Yiayia”-to Sophie and Kennedi Vento.
Born and raised in Oak Park, IL Dolores attended Horace Man Grammer School and Oak Park River Forest High School. Following graduation, she studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, nurturing a lifelong passion for art that she expressed beautifully throughout her life. Dolores was also an enthusiastic world traveler. She and her husband Spyro enjoyed many adventures together with their children, Tom and Aea. In later years she continued to travel independently, immersing herself in the history, culture, and beauty of each destination she visited.
She remained active and vibrant well into her later years, practicing yoga, aerobics, and swimming-a testament to her discipline, spirit, and love of life.
Dolores will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will forever cherish her strength, elegance, warmth, and unwavering love.
Visitation for Delores will be held on Thursday May 28th from 4pm-8pm at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison St. Willowbrook, IL. Funeral and Interment are private. For info 630-325-2300
