Dorothy M Sorce Obituary

Dorothy M. Sorce, nee Fisher, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 94.

Dorothy was born on April 15, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois. She shared a special bond with her loving parents, Edward and Barbara, and her siblings—Dolores, Bob, and Eddie. Dorothy often fondly reminisced about her modest yet joyful childhood, which helped shape her strong Christian values and commitment to family.

Dorothy attended Lourdes High School, where she formed lifelong friendships that she treasured. She appreciated these connections and cherished the time spent with her friends and their families.

A few years after high school, Dorothy met her beloved husband, Joseph I. Sorce. Together they raised five children—Tom, Nancy, Donna, Joe, and Jim—and shared 50 years of marriage. Dorothy was a devoted mother and wife and was known for her compassion, love, and joyful spirit. She had an infectious way of brightening any room she entered, and people were drawn to her warmth and kindness.

As a devout Catholic, Dorothy lived her life with unwavering faith, which guided her actions and relationships. She enjoyed actively participating at her local parish when she lived in Harwood Heights, Cape Coral, and Indian Head Park. Her commitment to Christian values shone through everything she did, and she carried herself with love, service, and gratitude.

Dorothy’s generous and compassionate nature meant she always put others first. She had a special gift for making people feel seen and appreciated. Whether through thoughtful phone calls, handwritten cards, or simply checking in on loved ones, Dorothy made sure everyone knew they were in her thoughts and prayers. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she gave freely, expecting nothing in return.

An avid hostess, Dorothy loved gathering family and friends, creating an environment filled with laughter, connection, and joy. She treasured moments spent playing games and sharing time with those she loved. Even in difficult times, Dorothy’s ability to focus on life’s blessings served as an inspiration to all who knew her.

Dorothy will be remembered not only for her generous spirit but also for her unwavering gratitude and her ability to make others feel loved and valued. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched, and she will forever be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Dorothy is survived by children Nancy Butler, Donna (Robert) Insley, Joseph Sorce, and James (Evelyn) Sorce; daughter-in-law Susan Sorce; grandchildren Tracy (Matthew Tingler) Paolella, Nichole (Robert) Petrovich, Thomas (Sara) Sorce, Jason (Rebecca) Sorce, John (Elizabeth) Paolella, Lyle Butler, Cortney Gaynes; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Evelyn Hanrahan; and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, whom she loved dearly.
