Our beloved mother Elsa Duran, age 64, passed away on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026.

Elsa was born on April 11, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, to Catherine and Raul Duran. She attended high school, completed some college, and later earned her CDL after completing trucking school. Following this achievement, she began her career with the Department of Water for the City of Chicago, where she dedicated 38 years of service. She retired on July 31, 2025. Elsa was not only a hardworking and dedicated woman, but also a deeply loving and devoted mother.

Elsa Duran will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humor, resilience, and generosity. She was rooted in her faith with God. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was known for her funny, bubbly spirit and she was full of life. She believed in helping wherever she was needed, finding purpose and joy in serving her family, friends, and community. She was an amazing woman with plenty of love in her heart. Her love was not only spoken but lived—shown through sacrifice, patience, and unwavering support. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and eating good food, and she especially loved listening to and jamming to her oldies music. She loved striking up conversations, offering compliments, and lifting others up. She was always willing to help anyone going through a difficult time. Her giving heart touched countless lives. She was a sweet soul to many people.

Elsa is survived by her children: Veronica, David, Janita, Elsa, and Christina. Her brothers: Frank, Roy, and Dave. She also leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January the 20th, from 4pm to 8pm at Adolf Funeral Home, 2921 S. Harlem Ave, Berwyn, IL, 60402.

A burial service will follow on Wednesday, January the 21st, after the service at Adolf Funeral Home at 11:30am, and then proceed to Woodlawn Memorial Park, 7750 Cermak Rd, Forest park, 60130 as her final resting place.
