Mr. George Verghese was born in Karukachal, Kerala, India, on March 10, 1946, and was called home to glory on Friday February 13, 2026. A man of deep faith and gentle strength, he lived his life anchored in Christ and devoted to the service of God.

He was the beloved husband of Kamala Verghese, cherished father of Vijay & Renu, Previn & Renu, and Anand, and the loving grandfather of Olivia, Evan, and Luka. He was also an uncle and a friend to many all over the world, touching countless lives with his kindness, humility, and steadfast love.

Born to the late Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Verghis, George grew up in a home shaped by ministry, worship, and the Word. He continued that legacy with humility and grace throughout his life. He was the loving brother of the late Rev. Jacob Verghis and loving sister of the late Mrs. Aleyamma Joseph.

For 41 years, George faithfully served in the Church of South India in Chicago, walking in the calling of his heritage as the son and brother of CSI Achens. As Choirmaster and the Church Organist, he led the congregation in worship with reverence, joy, and a heart fully surrendered to God. Whether at the piano or the organ, his music lifted the church into the presence of the Lord.

He worshiped with his whole heart, tended God’s creation in his gardens at home, and shared Christ’s love through his cooking and hospitality. His life was a quiet testimony to enduring faith, self-less kindness, and unwavering trust in God.

A visitation will be held on Saturday February 21, 2026 from 1pm until 4pm. There will be a service at 5pm at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St, Willowbrook, IL 60527
