John (Jack) Parker Cunningham Jr of Burr Ridge IL, formerly of Hinsdale IL, passed away on Saturday, Sept 7th, 2024 at home with his family.  John battled cancer valiantly with grace and dignity until the end.  John is survived by his wife Marsha, his daughter Julia (Patrick) as well as many nieces and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his Father John, Mother Anne, and his sister Lois.  John attended St. Peter’s Preparatory School where he was the champion fencer. He graduated from Gettysburg College, and he received his MBA from Adelphi University.  He was born in Chicago but was raised in Garden City NY. He worked in many sales capacities until his retirement at 81.  John loved people and travel and enjoyed working with his many customers. He was a voracious reader and especially enjoyed historical literature.  A celebration of life for John will be held on Friday, Sept 20th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 South Madison Street, Willowbrook, IL 60527.  In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in John's memory to the Hinsdale Humane Society - https://www.hinsdalehumanesociety.org/ , to PAWS Chicago https://www.pawschicago.org/ or to your favorite charity.
