John Patrick Haggerty passed away on April 16, 2025. He was born in Chicago on November 7, 1941 to Frank and Ann (Berkery) Haggerty. He was one of six children. He was a brother to Tom (Karen) and Frank (Marilyn), and the late Maureen (Jim), Trish, and Judy, and a stepson to Bern. He graduated from St. Rita High School and went on to join the Army and 101st Airborne. John worked as a plumber throughout his life including as a foreman with the Cook County Forest Preserve.
He married the love of his life Donna Latino on September 5, 1971. They were married for 36 years before Donna passed in 2007. Together they welcomed one son, Michael, in 1978 and lived in Oak Lawn. Michael married Sara (Johns) and they welcomed three children - Addy, Michael and Lucas. John cherished being a father and a grandfather and loved spending time with family. John was a hard working and devoted family man. He understood that health, family and friends were what mattered in life. He was known for his kindness, patience and willingness to always help someone out. John will be greatly missed and his memory will live on with all of the family and friends that he supported, loved and shared a laugh with.
A visitation will be held on Monday April 21, 2025 from 1:30pm to 5:15pm directly followed by a funeral service at 5:15pm at Adolf and Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St, Willowbrook, IL 60527, with reception to follow at 6:15pm. A final prayer will be held on Tuesday April 22, 2025 at 9:00am at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, with a 10am burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W 111th St, Alsip, IL 60803.
