Julia Culen Obituary

Julia Culen passed away peacefully at her home of 18+ years on Dec  13, 2024, after 102 years of living. Julia Kazlauckas was raised in  Oconto, Wisconsin, moved to Chicago at 18, where she met her  husband, Edward Culen. Julia drove a school bus for Lyons  Township High School. After retiring they spent time in Arizona, Lake  Carroll, Illinois and Laughlin, Nevada.  

After Edwards’s death Julia spent time with her family. She is  survived by children, Clyde Culen(Chris) and Elaine Layden(Thomas),  grandchildren, Michael Layden (Liz), Jennifer Layden(Jon Almer), and  Brian Layden(Angela), Christy Martino (Kevin) and Dan Culen (Ani),  and great grandchildren, Patty, Jane, Tommy, Katie, Claire and  Andrew Layden, Owen and Layden Almer, Morgan, Avery, and  Brayden Martino and Reese and Eddie Culen. She loved nothing  more than welcoming the new babies into the world! 

She was blessed to have many wonderful care-takers and neighbors  who spent time with her at Mayslake Village, where she was honored  recently with 5 other residents on their 102nd birthday celebrations. 

The family is planning a private Celebration of Life.
