Leonard J. Stach

Leonard J. Stach, age 86, at rest September 24, 2023.  Beloved husband of Christine (nee: Wozniak).  Loving father of Mark (Victoria) Stach, David Stach, Laura (Robert) Miller and Stephanie Stach.  Devoted grandfather of Emily, Marcus, Julia, Carolyn and Benjamin, fond brother of Dr. Thomas (Adrian) Stach.

Len was born, raised, and educated in Chicago, coming from a line of Chicagoans dating back to the Pullman Railcar Company.  Len graduated as Valedictorian from Weber High School, received his bachelor’s degree from Loyola University and earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Northwestern University in 1963.  Len worked for over 37 years in the Chemical industry where he received over 40 U.S. and international patents for his work. 

Growing up, he used to ride his bike to the old Chicago Stadium to watch his beloved Blackhawks and listen to White Sox games on the radio.  This year, Len and Christine celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Len raised his family in Riverside for 30 years and later lived in Indian Head Park where he frequented his favorite bakeries.  He was a master of the “sliver of cake” philosophy.  Len was a great husband, dad, Gramps, spoiler of Charlie the springer spaniel, and genuine neighbor.  He will be deeply missed. 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday November 10, 2023 at 11AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Darien, Il.  In lieu of flowers donations to Misericordia (misericordia.com) would be appreciated.  For info 630-325-2300.
