Lorraine "Lori" Julie Gilbert Obituary

Lorraine “Lori” Julie Gilbert, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 9, 2025 after a 17-year battle with breast cancer.

Born on February 18, 1954, to the late Jarmilla and Glenn Krueger, Lori grew up in North Riverside, IL, alongside her siblings Glenn (Eileen), the late Jeannie (Jim), Bob (Sherry), and Paul (Connie Jean). She later attended the University of Iowa and went on to build a successful career as a financial advisor. Lori met the love of her life, Bruce, when she was interviewing him for a job at their firm. Spoiler alert: he got the job! Together, Bruce and Lori shared 39 beautiful years as best friends, doing everything side by side, even getting their haircuts together.

Lori’s greatest joy was her family. She will be forever cherished as the beloved wife of Bruce Gilbert; loving mother of Carolyn (Jeff) Pejsa, Allison (Greg) Otte, and Jenny (Mike Leahy) Gilbert; and proud Nana of Claire Pejsa, Nick Pejsa, and Quinn Otte.

Lori was known for her boundless energy and zest for life. She was always on the go. She loved golfing, playing Mahjong, traveling, and simply spending time with friends and family. You would never know the battle she faced, only the strength she carried.

A private family service will be held at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook. A celebration of life will be held on October 12, 2025. Please reach out to family for details.
