Margaret “Peggy” Joan Smith , age 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday 6/14/2026. She was born in Evanston, Illinois to her parents, James, R. Harmon and Muriel Mortell (Harmon).
She attended the Alexander Graham Bell School as a young girl, and when her family moved to Indianapolis, she attended the Indiana School for the Deaf until 1972. As an adult she lived primarily in Indianapolis along with her loving brother Tim.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Katherine A. Harmon (2003) and her brother Tim Harmon (2025).
She is survived by her sisters, Mary Kay Gaines, and Christine Edmier (Robert) and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026 from 2 PM to 5 PM at Adolf and Powell Funeral Home 7000 South Madison St. , Willowbrook, Illinois 60527.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or the Indiana School for the Deaf are appreciated.
