Marie Kaspareit passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026 in her sleep in West Chicago. She was born on March 23, 1929 in the small village of Psary, Germany (currently Poland). She was married to her beloved husband, Emil, for 73 years until he passed away in June 2023.
Growing up during World War II, her family faced many struggles, hardships, and separation. She left home at 16 years of age to work in a nearby town, which was mandatory during this time. She became separated from her family and did not know if they survived the war. It wasn’t until many years later that she reconnected with her family in Poland and visited them for the first time in 1968. She met Emil in Schweinfurt in 1948 after the war and they were married in 1949. To provide a better life for their family, they moved to America in 1956 and settled in Chicago. Marie was a wonderful cook and Sunday supper was the best meal of the week. Her garden was always filled with flowers and vegetables. Her backyard had many colorful bird feeders and houses. Her love of gardening and birds are carried on by her children.
Marie is the loving mother of Erwin (Beverley) Kaspareit and Marianne (Steve) Albertson. Cherished grandmother of Kevin Meister and Cynthia Kaspareit. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Emil; granddaughter Michelle Meister; father and mother, Jan and Helena Popilas; sisters Emilia Brohl and Helga Ronberg.
A visitation will be held on Monday February 23, 2026 from 9am until time of funeral service at 11am at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St, Willowbrook, IL 60527. Interment Bethania Cemetery.
