Marilyn Fors passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 11, 2026. 

She was the daughter of Gerald and Viola Lance and the wife of Eric W. Fors. She is survived by her children, Lance, Erica, Dirk, and Steele Fors, and her grandchildren, Steele Fors-Klein, Ariel Fors-Klein, Tiffany Fors, Tatiana Fors, and Zuri Fors.

For 65 years Marilyn was the heart and soul of Lance Construction Supplies, Inc., the Chicago-based business founded by her parents. An incredibly dedicated worker and a consistent force, she directed the company through many ups and downs, shaping it into a respected member of the local business community.

Marilyn was an icon, a trailblazer, and a strong-willed woman whose example showed everyone around her what could be achieved with heart, determination, and dedication. She had a zest for life and a wide range of passions. She delighted in the arts, regularly attending theater productions, ballet, and concerts. An accomplished cook, she hosted memorable multi-course dinners, approaching each meal with creativity and curiosity. She also traveled extensively with her family, exploring new cultures and destinations, always seeking vibrant and engaging experiences.

She was truly someone who made an impression on the world, and she will be sorely missed.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 1:30pm until time of service at 3:30pm. A Celebration of Life Service will take place from 3:30pm to 4:30pm all services will be held at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St, Willowbrook, IL. Reception will follow at Ruth Lake Country Club.
