Matthew Martin Pembroke Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Matthew Martin Pembroke, on April 23rd, 2025, at the age of 39.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Rosemary Pembroke, his maternal grandfather Gerald Swanson, his maternal great grandparents Byron and Evelyn Voights, his uncle and Godfather Michael Berger, his aunts Florence Pembroke and Patricia O’Brien, his uncle, John Swanson, and his cousin Timothy Pembroke.
Matthew was raised in Western Springs, IL and Cedarburg, Wisconsin. He attended St. John of the Cross (Western Springs, IL), Highlands Elementary School (Countryside, IL) and St. Francis Borgia (Cedarburg, WI) Grade Schools. During his elementary school years, Matthew studied piano under the tutelage of Ludmila Derka, with whom he had great respect for, and he came to be a gifted pianist. Matthew graduated from Fenwick High School in Oak Park, IL. He furthered his education after high school and received a bachelor’s degree in Physics from University of IL at Chicago.
Growing up Matthew enjoyed spending weekends at his maternal grandparent’s farm and watching the harvest in the fall, weekends at his paternal grandparent’s cottage in Delavan, WI, attending Wisconsin Friday night fish frys and boating with his cousins. Matthew loved spending time with his family and was especially fond of the annual trip to Holy Hill Basilica in Hubertus, Wisconsin followed with a Wisconsin supper club Sunday brunch. He loved good food, family vacations, and always enjoyed a drive through the Morton Arboretum, which was near his home in Lisle, IL. Matthew had the unending love and support of his family and his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. He will be buried in Ransom, IL alongside his grandparents, aunts and uncles.
