Michael "Mike" Meyer Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Michael ‘Mike’ Meyer (age 69), who departed this life on July 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Frances (Cira) Meyer, devoted children Michelle (Tim) Brown, the late Michael and Mia (Jason) Culver, cherished grandchildren Isabella, Michael, Jaxon, and Mila, brother Steven (Elizabeth) Meyer, sister Marla (Ron) Fronczak, and extended family and friends who were blessed to be part of his life. Mike was the son of the late Joseph and late Rose Meyer and brother to the late Sandy Meyer.

Mike was a man whose kindness, generosity, and quiet strength touched everyone he met. Whether you were a lifelong friend or a stranger passing through, he had a way of making you feel comfortable and welcomed. His heart was always open, and his hands were always ready to help.

He had a deep love for cooking and believed no one should ever go hungry. Whether it was a big holiday meal or a casual Sunday gathering, he made sure everyone felt at home. Feeding others was one of his greatest joys, and his kitchen was always a place of warmth, laughter, and full plates.

A devoted husband of 46 years, he built a beautiful life and marriage with his wife, Mary Fran. They loved nothing more than spending time supporting the grandkids at their activities, trying out local breakfast places, or simply watching TV together. Mary Fran treasured every moment and will hold them close to her heart forever.

Together, they also raised two daughters, Michelle and Mia, who adored him and are forever grateful for his unwavering support, gentle wisdom, and the values he passed down through the life he led. He also shared a special bond with both of his sons-in-law, Tim and Jason, whom he loved like his own.

For nearly 35 years, he served the community as the local tire guy at Suburban Tire - not just fixing tires, but lifting spirits and serving as a mentor to his co-workers. He was known for his honesty, work ethic, and ever-present smile.

Family meant everything to him. He loved spending time at home catching up with everyone on the day-to-day events and enjoyed traveling on the annual magical family vacations. When the girls were younger, he spent many years sharing his insights as a softball coach both on and off the field. His family was truly the light of his life. He fought tirelessly through years of illness just to be present at every milestone.

Mike endured uphill battles with both renal disease (almost ten years on dialysis) and painful forms of cancer with such continued strength and determination. There truly was no one like him and we are better people because we knew him. His love, selflessness, and resilience left an indelible mark on all our hearts.

To honor his final request, we are hosting an infamous "Mike Meyer Garage Party" to celebrate his remarkable life. Refreshments, stories, and smiles will be shared. Please join us, in casual attire, on Sunday, August 10th at 8104 Middlebury Avenue Woodridge IL 60517 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform an act of kindness in his memory just as he would have done.
