Patricia Tymchyshyn, passed away peacefully on October 26 at age 89. She was born in Minneapolis and spent her early years in Chisholm, Minnesota. Most of her adult life was spent in Champaign, Il, and the final few years in River Forest, Il. She is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Pearl Rudeen; husband, Roman; and son, Michael. She is survived by her son, Mark; daughter, Mary (Terry); and dochter, Greta West. She is also survived by her grandchildren: David (Sarah), Michael, Kevin (Shannon), and Katie Studer; and Sascha and Caleb Tymchyshyn. Pat got her PhD in nursing education and taught for many years at Parkland Junior College. She was a pioneer in the use of computers in nursing education. In addition to her distinguished academic career, she will be best remembered as a kind, giving person and a champion for marginalized groups in the community. She served and loved passionately as a parish nurse, visitor to shut-ins, and mentor to international students. She also started a PFLAG group at her home church, Wesley Methodist in Urbana. She was a lover of the arts who attended hundreds of events at the Krannert Center in Urbana. She was a fervent Illini and Cub fan, as well as a devoted dog lover. Her service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 7551 quick ave, River Forest, IL 60305 on November 2 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Wesley Foundation at the University of Illinois.
