Paulette M. Karas, 73, of Burr Ridge, passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2026, surrounded by her daughters. She was born on July 27, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary (LaPorta) Alleruzzo. She lived a life marked by dedication to her family, friends, and the Marist Brothers.
Paulette worked for the Marist Brothers for over 30 years, starting what would become their highly successful Province Development Office, working in concert with the late Br. Hugh Turley. In 2013, the Brothers honored her by making her an affiliated member of their U.S. Province. Her legacy and impact on both the retirement needs of the Brothers, as well as generating funds to support the Marist mission, will never be forgotten.
Paulette is survived by her daughters, Kristin Karas and Courtney Mack (Dan), who will remember her for her strength and devotion. She is also survived by her brother-in-laws Donald Karas (Cathy) and Richard Karas (Cheryl) along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Paulette was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend, Dennis, as well as her sisters Rosemary McTigue (the late Michael) and Dorothy Fusco (the late James).
Paulette will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17th from 2pm to 7pm at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 South Madison Street, Willowbrook, IL 60527.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 18th at 10am, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8404 South Cass Ave. Darien, IL 60561.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Marist Brothers, Provincial Development Office, 4200 W. 115th St., Chicago, IL 60655.
