Ray was born on October 3 1953, at Elmhurst hospital. He is survived by his children, Caitlin and Logan, and his sister Evelyn.
Ray embraced life with boundless energy and curiosity, making meaningful contributions to every community he joined. As a young man, he excelled in athletics competing in collegiate wrestling at LSU while earning his bachelor’s degree. He went on to build a successful career with the Park District of Oak Park, before becoming a private contractor and property investor.
In 1995, Ray joined the Oak Park Running Club, which quickly became a central part of his life. There he made lifelong friendships and in 2011 met he future wife, Annie. They celebrated their marriage in the middle of a Monday night fun run!
Ray’s adventurous spirit led him to salsa dancing, hiking, car camping and spontaneous road trip across the country. He found joy in gardening, cooking, and maintaining his health and fitness. His playful spirit and ability to make people laugh touched many.
Ray passed away on Father’s Day, while doing what he loved most- running a 10k race in Indiana. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
