Robert W Zymm Obituary

Robert W. Zymm ( Zymkiewicz ) age 88, fondly remembered as Bob, beloved husband of Ruth and devoted Father to Debra ( Frank ) De Francesco & Deena Zymm passed away at his residence on Friday, 8 December 2023.

He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. While there he met the love of his life Ruth on a blind date and they were married for 63 years. Bob graduated from Morton College and worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer until retirement. He often could be found spending countless hours volunteering for charity at church or in his community, competing in Illinois state roller skating competitions, and playing golf. He also enjoyed antique car shows, HO trains, upholstery, reading a good book and of course always listening to jazz! He had a sweet sense of humor and his ability to make others smile was a blessing to so many which will be greatly remembered dearly by many including his many nieces and nephews.

We have had a very long goodbye and you are now at peace living on in our hearts forever!  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor him are invited to send a memorial to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family is asking for privacy as we say our final goodbye with a closed service.
