Ruth Lauterbach, age 98 passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024 surrounded by family.  Ruth was born in Chicago on October 3, 1925, to Edward and Mae Gabriel, the oldest of 11 children. She married her husband of 46 years, Erv Lauterbach on February 2, 1952, and raised 5 children: Erv, Ron, Judy, Carol, and Kevin.

She was a proud grandmother to Jennifer, Eric, Kelly, Becky, Patrick, Caitlin, Katie, Rachel, Kristen, Jason, Matthew, Elizabeth and Kathleen.

Ruth loved to boast about her 23 great grandchildren: Ella, Lukas, Cameron, Evan, Sydney P, Caleb, Zachary, Charlotte, Ryan, Addie, Josalyn, Spencer, William, Sydney R, Connor, Lincoln, Kennedy, Daniel H, Molly, Landon, Kate, Daniel T, and Wyatt.

Ruth was a true blessing for her family and friends. She remained vibrant up to the time of her passing, frequently teasing her friends and loved ones, particularly her “favorite” son-in-laws.

She was an avid gardener and took great pleasure in bringing the most distressed plants and trees back to flourishing life.  Ruth had a keen interest in sports and followed Chicago teams closely. She enjoyed bowling, participating into her 90’s. 

Family and friends treasured her pizzelles and homemade noodles during the holidays.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Mater Christi Catholic Church, 2401 South 10th Avenue, North Riverside, Illinois 60546. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
