Shelva Choplin Obituary

Shelva passed away peacefully on November 1, surrounded by her family.  She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Choplin.  They were married for 55 years and had 3 daughters. Shannon MacPhail of Southwick, MA, husband David, who passed in 2022.  Kimberly Stanley, husband Paul of Bolingbrook, IL and Sabrina Choplin of Burr Ridge, IL. She also had 2 granddaughters. Jessica Garcia, husband Tony, Melissa Droeske, and husband Trevor. Elliana Garcia was her only great granddaughter.  Shelva’s family meant everything to her.  There were many trips and memories made over her 86 years.

In her earlier years, she was very active in whatever church she belonged to, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and hosting numerous social events. She was very involved with mission projects.  She and Doug went to Montana with Habitat for Humanity to help build homes.  It was an experience she always treasured.

Shelva was also very proud of the work she did with the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.  Her youngest child was born with CP and she worked for several years with the organization when she lived in Atlanta.  Shelva will be missed by her friends and family.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9 from1-3PM with a service to follow at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison,  Willowbrook.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, www.cerebralpalsyfoundation.org
