Susan Siorek

Susan Rose Siorek (nee Fuglsang), 71, of Downers Grove, IL, entered eternal rest on Monday, February 26th, 2024. Loving wife of 49 years to her husband Greg, caring sister to Lynne (Brian) and Dennis (Sue), devoted mother to Sarah (Nicholas) and Ryan (Courtney), and adoring grandmother to Madison, Morgan, Hayden and Kellen and fond sister-in-law to Nancie Siorek. Susan was the cherished daughter of the late Floyd and Renetta Fuglsang and daughter-in-law to the late Theodore and Alice Siorek. Susan was also the dearest aunt to Jill (Steven) Holmes, Douglas Fuglsang, Matthew, Michael and Stephen Fuglsang. 

Susan’s family was the most important thing in the world to her and she was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed keeping in touch with all of her cousins and friends and was always sharing wonderful memories. She was a devoted friend to many and will be greatly missed. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart were evident in the love she shared with her family and community. She was affectionately known as the “neighborhood nurse” and always helped anyone who needed it. Whether it was taking her granddaughters on a shopping adventure, supporting her grandsons’ activities or watching one of her grandkids sporting events, she always did her best to be present and in the moment. 

Her nursing career spanned over the past 50 years in the emergency room at LaGrange Memorial and as an EMS coordinator at Loyola Medical Center and Elite Ambulance where she truly enjoyed working with and educating the various fire departments and paramedics. 

During this time of reflection, may we remember Susan for her kindness, generosity, laughter, and positive impact she had on the lives of those around her. Her spirit will be greatly missed, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. 

The family invites loved ones to join in remembrance, to honor Susan’s life. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM CST at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison St. Willowbrook, IL. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
